Spring Home

Spring is finally here and it’s time to start thinking about home improvement
projects! Here are a few to-dos that will help you get your home in tip-top
shape for the season:

1. Clean gutters and downspouts: Winter can leave debris like leaves, twigs,
and dirt in your gutters, which can clog them and cause water damage to your roof and foundation. To clean them, use a ladder to access your gutters and scoop out any debris by hand or with a tool. Then, use a hose to flush out any remaining debris and check that your downspouts are clear and directing water away from your home.

2. Check your roof: Winter weather can also cause damage to your roof, like missing or cracked shingles, leaks, or sagging. Inspect your roof from the ground using binoculars or climb up to check it in person. Look for any signs
of damage, like missing or cracked shingles, rusted or damaged flashing, or areas where the roof is sagging. If you notice any damage, consider hiring a professional to repair it.

3. Give your lawn a little TLC: Spring is the perfect time to give your lawn some attention. Mow your grass to a height of 2-3 inches, which will encourage healthy growth. Fertilize your lawn to give it the nutrients it needs to thrive, and consider planting new flowers or shrubs to add some color and interest to your yard.

4. Replace your air filters: Air filters can become clogged with dust, dirt, and other particles, which can make your HVAC system work harder and reduce its efficiency. Replace your air filters at least every three months to improve
the air quality in your home and keep your HVAC system running smoothly.

5. Schedule a maintenance check for your AC unit: Before the summer heat sets in, it’s a good idea to have your AC unit inspected by a professional. They can check that your unit is clean, lubricated, and functioning properly, which
will help prevent breakdowns and ensure that your home stays cool all summer long.

6. Update your outdoor living space: Spring is the perfect time to spruce up your outdoor living space. Consider adding new furniture or decor, like a new patio set, outdoor rug, or planters, to create a cozy and inviting space for relaxing and entertaining.
